A Message of "Greatness"
As we conclude the first half of 2026, the theme of "Greatness" has resonated through every initiative we have undertaken. We have successfully transitioned from the foundational rigors of Phase I into a season of high-impact deployment. This year is not merely about maintaining momentum; it is about setting a new standard for what a non-profit foundation can achieve when it operates with intentionality. From the oratorical development of our young men to the strategic branding of our signature gala, we are building an ecosystem of leadership that distinguishes our participants — and our organization — as leaders of thought and action.
Mission & Vision
Our Mission
To develop the academic, leadership, and character potential of young men in grades 3–12 through rigorous educational programming, scholarship, and mentorship — empowering scholars to become the next generation of community leaders.
Our Vision
To stand as the premier educational and leadership foundation serving the Tallahassee community — a model of fiscal stewardship, brand prestige, and measurable impact, advancing the eighty-year legacy of the Gamma Mu Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
An Evening of Alpha Brilliance

The 80th Anniversary Commemoration & Scholarship Ball, held March 20, 2026 at the FSU University Student Union Ballroom, was a cornerstone event elevating the Foundation's brand to the level of "Alpha Brilliance." Beyond a social gathering, the gala served as a sophisticated brand-building platform — bringing together corporate sponsors and community stakeholders for an evening defined by upscale execution, a formal City Proclamation, and a soulful set from the Twin Towers band.
- Operational savings: negotiated catering from per-dozen to per-person — securing $8,300 for 300 guests.
- Atmosphere: lighted "GML" signs and "7 Jewels" recognitions throughout the ballroom.
- Guest experience: seamless valet service and coordination with FSU Union staff.
- Revenue optimization: expanded corporate sponsorships and payment plans for individual brother tables.
- Schedule logistics: shift start to 8:30 PM and streamline intermission to sustain energy.
- Communication: explicit valet and parking instructions on every invitation.
Looking ahead: The 81st Anniversary Scholarship Ball in Spring 2027 will be themed "An Evening of Alpha Prestige."
Phase I — Oratorical, Scholarship & Leadership
Phase I of our 2026 calendar serves as the primary vehicle for developing young men from grades 3 through 12 — building the Alpha Rise Academy, Alpha Leadership Program for Higher Achievement, and Alpha Millennium Academy pipelines. Our journey began with a Parent/Student Orientation on January 24 and moved through seven intensive sessions, culminating in the Awards Banquet on May 9 with over 85 attendees and a special recognition for Mrs. Chicarla Pye.

Strategic brand investment beyond immediate revenue — premium signage, decor, and imagery to establish prestige for the 81st.
The Teacher Mini-Grant Initiative
The Foundation is launching a new "Pipeline Development" strategy: the Teacher Mini-Grant Program. By directly supporting Leon County K-12 educators, we turn teachers into Foundation ambassadors. Each grantee is tasked with referring 3–5 eligible students to our Alpha Rise, Leadership, and Millennium academies — creating a sustainable recruitment cycle.
Curriculum enhancement · Classroom technology · Supplies — turning the classroom into a recruitment engine.
